Tourism Malaysia Launches 118 New Travel Packages Under Visit Malaysia 2026-2027

Tourism Malaysia unveiled 118 new experience-based travel packages on September 23, 2026, at an event in Kuala Lumpur, as part of the extended Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 campaign. The packages span three new product lines aimed at giving visitors more specific, themed reasons to come to Malaysia beyond the usual city and beach itineraries.

The Three New Package Lines

The 118 packages break down into three categories. Edu+ 2.0 (29 packages), developed with the National Association of Private Educational Institutions, combines education-focused visits with golf, sports and arts programming. EatVenture (23 packages) is built around Malaysia’s culinary heritage. Taste of Orchard (66 packages) is an agro-tourism line centered on farm and orchard visits — think durian, Harumanis mangoes, cocoa, gula apong (palm sugar), empurau fish and pineapple, along with activities like tilapia farming and orchard tours.

Why It’s Happening Now

Tourism Malaysia director-general Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim described the packages as “niche tourism offerings designed to cater to specific domestic and international tourist segments,” part of a broader push to diversify what the country offers visitors, encourage longer stays and repeat visits, and support local farmers, homestays and small businesses. The push is tied to Malaysia’s target of 47 million visitor arrivals by 2027 — tourism currently accounts for around 15% of the country’s GDP. The earlier run of the Edu+ program reportedly drew 10,000 international students and RM50 million in tourism receipts, which the agency is hoping to build on with this expanded version.

Why This Matters for Travelers

If your idea of a Malaysia trip has mostly meant Kuala Lumpur, Penang or Langkawi, these packages are a signal that there’s a deliberate push toward smaller, regional and rural experiences — orchard visits, food-focused itineraries, and niche educational travel are all now easier to find as bundled, packaged trips rather than something you’d have to piece together yourself.

What Travelers Should Do

Details on individual packages, pricing and booking are being rolled out through Tourism Malaysia and its partner operators rather than sold directly by the agency, so the practical first step is checking the official Tourism Malaysia website and its Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 campaign pages for the specific package lists as they’re published, since availability and itineraries will vary by operator and region.
