InterContinental Penang Resort — Opening December 2026
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is opening its first Malaysian property at Teluk Bahang on Penang’s northern coastline, between the rainforest and the Andaman Sea. The 348-room resort will run four restaurants — Sulam for Peranakan cuisine, Paradiso for Italian, Shinka for Nikkei, and Coastal for oceanfront dining and drinks — plus a Club InterContinental service level, the Gemala Spa, and a Planet Trekkers kids club. “Guests will be able to wake up beside the Andaman Sea, explore Teluk Bahang’s quieter coastline, [and] taste Peranakan flavours at Sulam,” said general manager Jeffrey Seward.
